Rei Nguyễn’s journey into perfumery began with Koudou (香道)—the traditional Japanese art of incense appreciation. For Rei, scent is not merely a sensory pleasure but a spiritual ritual—one that invites quiet introspection and deep connection with the self.
Koudou, one of Japan’s three classical arts alongside the tea ceremony (Chadō) and calligraphy (Shodō), is not about simply smelling a fragrance, but rather listening to it (mon-kō)—a meditative act where each wisp of scent becomes a bridge between memory, mind, and spirit.

What began as a quiet passion led Rei to pursue formal perfumery training in Tokyo. After returning to Vietnam, she embarked on a creative journey spanning over eight years, guided by her own philosophy: perfume is a form of art, where emotions, memories, and culture are distilled into every drop.

The R Parfums logo, a stylized Enso circle, symbolizes origin, openness, and the infinite space for creation. It also subtly evokes the Chinese character “nhân” (人) meaning “human”—placing people at the heart of the brand, where each fragrance begins with emotion, memory, and personal experience.

Driven by a reverence for craftsmanship, each perfume bottle—crafted in patina—is the result of over 12 months of collaboration with local artisans, from metal oxidation experiments and tone selection to final detailing.
