A usually green film formed naturally on copper and bronze by long exposure or artificially (as by acids) and is often valued aesthetically for its color.
It all dated back when we had a chance to visit Hue – the old Capital of Vietnam. The traces of oxidation left on the surfaces of the old antiques caught our attention at first sight; and we were immediately enchanted by its unique beauty. It is the memories attached in those antiques that make them special. And the patina* with the color of time became our signature material since then.
It took us almost 12 months to develop the raw patina materials into a form of jewelry for our perfume bottles. The patina is meticulously crafted by Vietnamese artisans and cut into 3 pieces before being put on the bottle.
Each patina is an original artwork curated for just one owner. Each work includes a complete brass piece, a full patina piece, and a piece in which the oxidation process is taking place. The miracle happens where the brass oxidizes itself to become a unique masterpiece.

The philosophy behind it is to embrace the flaws and imperfections and turn them into a more beautiful art piece. The Kintsugi patterns, like the “scars” themselves, are all different and unique in each art piece. More than just a design concept, Kintsugi represents an Asian deeply rooted philosophy, which values the true beauty of resilience. The strength to heal ourselves and revive from broken pieces is far more important than failures. Scars are to be embraced, and to be proud of.
R Parfums brings the art of Kintsugi to our perfume label. The perfume juice inside acts as the gold element of healing and connecting the 3 separate pieces of brass patina together. Each perfume label is a unique work of art, reflecting your own stories and proud scars.
