A house in a quiet neighbourhood

R Parfums opened the house at 34 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu in July 2022, in a part of the city where life moves a little more slowly.

“Never intended to be a traditional boutique.”

Over the years it has changed only by degrees. A glass room was added at the entrance to let in the daylight, and greenery was brought in to soften the air. Nothing here chases a trend. The house is kept quiet, so that a scent can be met slowly.

Its rooms have also held R Parfums’ scent exhibitions.

How the house was made, 2022

April – July 2022

From a house to a showroom

Before it held a single bottle, 34 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu was a private house, with louvred wooden shutters and a staircase rail of turned timber. Work began in April 2022. Walls were opened into arches, the rooms were taken back to bare plaster, and the name went up in letters on raw concrete. Three months later, the house opened.

The work, in order

  1. An old arched opening widened through a cream wall, the cut edges still raw grey render, with crosses sprayed on the wall beside it

Turn it under the light

Each Patina bottle carries three pieces of brass, corroded and polished by hand. Piece I stays bare. Piece III has turned fully to patina. Piece II is caught midway. Every bottle is made for a single owner.

Ceramic

Lift the cap

A round ceramic cap, fired at 1000°C, with a tassel and a charm engraved with R. The kiln decides the glaze and the maker’s hand the tassel, so each Ceramic bottle comes to you as it was finished. The glaze shifts with the light and from one firing to the next. Ceramic arrives at the houses in late November.

Ivana first came across R Parfums at a presentation held at the Regent hotel on Phú Quốc island. Her favourite is Eau de Hajime, ‘the first original one’.

    Every day from 8:00 to 18:00, weekends included. To check before you set out, call +84 89 649 0038.

  • Can I smell every scent before I buy?

    Yes. All six are open to try on skin: Eau de Hajime, Pluviophile, Nostalgic March, 221B, Shadow Éclat and Béton Chaud. Ceramic arrives at the houses in late November.

  • Can I collect an online order here?

    Yes. At checkout, choose ‘Collect from one of our three houses’, then Nguyễn Duy Hiệu. Pay by VietQR in VND or by credit card in USD. A VietQR order is held for 60 minutes while the transfer arrives.
