The Patina bottle
Patina is the thin film that forms on brass in air and moisture. It looks like corrosion; in fact it shields the metal beneath. On this bottle, three pieces hold three moments of it at once.

The short film made for Pluviophile in 2022. It opens on drops of water and blurred green leaves. The bottle stands on a dark, wet surface above its own reflection; the camera moves in on the brass pieces, then on the gold cap, beaded with drops. A hand lifts it.
The bottle you receive is the Patina bottle as it is made today, with a plate of its own.

Where it began
The idea came from relics in Huế; twelve months of research and development went into the Patina line.
Between the plates, the perfume glows gold through the glass and holds the three together.
The scent · Chapter II
A pluviophile is someone who loves rain. The scent began on a Friday afternoon in Shinjuku Gyoen, Tokyo: rain on the lake, a wooden bench, wildflowers on a cool wind. On skin it stays green and clear, like rain heard from under a shelter.
Geosmin
Geosmin is the compound behind the smell of earth after rain. In Pluviophile it is recorded at less than 0.01% of the formula, under one part in ten thousand: a trace of wet ground beneath the water.
The perfume is the same in every Pluviophile bottle. The chapter tells the rest: the afternoon in Tokyo, the geosmin, and the 2024 exhibition of seven stories.
Same scent in Ceramic · 50 ml
A round cap of clay fired at 1000°C, in a glaze that recalls Chu Đậu ceramics. The glaze shifts with the light and with each firing. The kiln decides the glaze and the maker’s hand the tassel, so each Ceramic bottle comes to you as it was finished. Each one carries a ceramic charm engraved with R.

The Patina line
All six scents come in the Patina bottle, 50 ml, each with a plate of its own. The lighter scents wear Verde Patina, green-blue; 221B, Shadow Éclat and Béton Chaud wear the deeper Brown Blue Patina.

“Pluviophile” means “a rain lover” in Greek.
One afternoon in Shinjuku Gyoen in Tokyo, I sat on a wooden bench and watched silver rain tremble across the lake. A cool wind carried the scent of wildflowers. Somewhere nearby, the bees were still humming.
Rain lovers know such simple joys. To be alone in the rain can also be a kind of happiness, can it not?
