The Patina bottle
Three pieces of brass, each at a different hour of its life
Patina is the thin film that forms on brass in air and moisture. It looks like corrosion; in fact it shields the metal beneath.
- I Brass The metal as it was before the air reached it.
- II Turning It answers the room it lives in: the light, the humidity, the warmth. There is no fixed pace.
- III Patina The colour the brass settles into.
- For Shadow Éclat
- Brown Blue Patina, the shade the house keeps for its more inward scents. Shadow Éclat shares it with 221B and Béton Chaud.

The Patina Bottle
Series #1 is about the material the house has worked since its first day: brass, treated by hand until time shows on it.
Where it began
The idea came from relics in Huế; twelve months of research and development went into the Patina line.
Between the plates, the perfume glows gold through the glass and holds the three together.
How a plate is made
- Warmed, then coloured by hand Thin washes of oxides and metal salts, by brush, spray or sponge. The chemistry gives the colour; the hand gives the pattern.
- Filed and polished Each piece is filed down until it sits exactly in its place on the glass.
- Three pieces set on the glass One left as brass, one fully patinated, one caught midway; each with its own surface, shape and shade.
- Sealed under a UV-resistant coat It shields the patina from hard light. The coat slows the change; it does not stop it.

An imperfect soul, proud and full of presence
Shadow Éclat is drawn from James Moriarty, the mastermind Conan Doyle set against Sherlock Holmes. The scent rests on suede leather over the soft herbal calm of geranium, with the smoky honey of osmanthus and immortelle.

How it unfolds
Green mandarin, ozone and magnolia open cool and clear. Geranium, rose, iris and osmanthus carry the middle notes. Immortelle brings warmth to the base, then a little black pepper, and the softness of suede.
One palette, two balances
Shadow Éclat and 221B share one palette of raw materials, in different proportions. Here the suede is held back, like an elegant dark tone moving through shadow.

Letters from 221B Baker Street: Scents of Shadow
Rei’s solo exhibition at 34 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu, An Khánh Ward, set Sherlock Holmes and Professor James Moriarty in two rooms. Shadow Éclat first appeared there, and one space in Moriarty’s room carried its name. In February 2025 the exhibition travelled to Hanoi under a new name, Light and Shadow.

Shadow Éclat, under a ceramic cap
Where Patina keeps the time of brass, Ceramic keeps the mark of fire: a round cap fired at 1000°C, in a glaze that recalls Chu Đậu ceramics and shifts with the light. The kiln decides the glaze and the maker’s hand the tassel, so each Ceramic bottle comes to you as it was finished. A ceramic charm engraved with R hangs from every bottle.

No. Each bottle arrives with a plate of its own, and its colour will differ from the one photographed.
Is there a smaller size?
Yes. Shadow Éclat also comes in 12 ml, in a slim glass bottle of its own, at 1.285.200 ₫US$50, and as a 2 ml sample at 224.640 ₫US$9. It is not in the Discovery Set for now: the set holds the other five scents. Smaller sizes
