Scent – a gateway to the most intimate layers of human emotion.

Some journeys begin with a single question. For Rei Nguyễn, it was: “Can a scent tell a story?” And R Parfums is her answer—quiet, unhurried, yet profoundly emotional and evocative.

Rooted in the Art of Koudou

Rei Nguyễn’s journey into perfumery began with Koudou (香道)—the traditional Japanese art of incense appreciation. For Rei, scent is not merely a sensory pleasure but a spiritual ritual—one that invites quiet introspection and deep connection with the self. Koudou, one of Japan’s three classical arts alongside the tea ceremony (Chadō) and calligraphy (Shodō), is not about simply smelling a fragrance, but rather listening to it (mon-kō)—a meditative act where each wisp of scent becomes a bridge between memory, mind, and spirit. What began as a quiet passion led Rei to pursue formal perfumery training in Tokyo. After returning to Vietnam, she embarked on a creative journey spanning over eight years, guided by her own philosophy: perfume is a form of art, where emotions, memories, and culture are distilled into every drop.

A Creative Language of Contrasts

If there’s one word to describe the olfactory world of R Parfums, it’s balance. Rei doesn't settle for the obvious—she’s captivated by contrast, seeking harmony through opposing ingredients that, when brought together, create something unexpectedly whole. Each composition is built like a musical piece: a striking opening, a gradual deepening, and an emotional linger that stays with you long after. For Rei, the act of perfumery is akin to alchemy—where only balance and nuance can lead to true beauty.

Heritage, Aesthetics, and Intentionality

R Parfums doesn’t follow trends—it delves into identity. Inspired by Vietnamese heritage and the Japanese art of incense appreciation, the brand bridges tradition and modernity with thoughtful intention—serving as a conduit between heritage and the now.

From traditional garment motifs and ancient architecture to the refined sensibilities of tea ceremony and calligraphy, these cultural elements are intricately woven into each creation—not as borrowings, but as extensions of the artist’s inner world. These influences are never formulaic. They are distilled, reconstructed, and reimagined into a language that feels both familiar and contemporary—subtle, yet profound.

The brand’s signature orange hue is no coincidence. It is the color of the Hoả hoàng robes once worn by scholars and intellectuals—symbols of enlightenment and refined power. In today’s world, this orange represents soft power—the quiet strength of creativity, elegance, and resilience. It embodies how R Parfums engages with the world: not loudly, but deeply.

The R Parfums logo, a stylized Enso circle, symbolizes origin, openness, and the infinite space for creation. It also subtly evokes the Chinese character "nhân" (人) meaning "human"—placing people at the heart of the brand, where each fragrance begins with emotion, memory, and personal experience.

Driven by a reverence for craftsmanship, each perfume bottle—crafted in patina—is the result of over 12 months of collaboration with local artisans, from metal oxidation experiments and tone selection to final detailing. “No two bottles are ever the same—just like no two emotional encounters with scent are alike.”

When Perfume Becomes an Artistic Medium

R Parfums is not only a creator of fragrances, but a curator of sensory experiences. From multisensory exhibitions where scent intertwines with light and sound, to unique pairings of perfume with wine and culinary arts—each event becomes a stage for the senses. And what remains, long after, is not just a scent— But an aftertaste. A memory. A gentle touch on the most private layers of emotion.

A Space Where Fragrance Is Celebrated

The R Parfums showroom is an extension of the brand’s soul: refined and intentional.

At R Parfums, fragrance is not merely something to wear. It is something to feel, to recall, to converse with— In stillness.
