Part of an openingPluviophile – Chapter 2 · 2026 · Open the record

Pluviophile – Chapter 2 was open at 34 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu from 16 July to 9 August 2026. In that visitors’ book, Thái Lê left a page in careful slanted script, following a raindrop through each scent. The page is transcribed below, word for word.
Thank you, R Perfume, for giving us an exhibition so full of feeling, together with the rain. A journey to witness a raindrop growing up. A memorable experience for the nose, beginning with something innocent and clear, full of hope, then growing sharper and deeper, climbing in pitch from scent #2 to its peak at #3, and slowly settling into a gentle, passionate dance at #4. And then, after it all, where will the rain go — resting on a lotus leaf, melting into the earth, or flying far on the wings of a newly met dragonfly friend? An open ending, left for the nose to answer. Whatever the answer, I believe the raindrop has found its meaning, as the dragonfly, the lotus, or we ourselves find meaning in our existence, whether the journey lasts five days, four months or sixty years. I truly loved the growing up in scent #5, the scent that gave me the most delightful surprise. I hope to experience “Where does the rain go” soon among R Perfume’s official creations.
A journey to witness a raindrop growing up.
Five scents, one raindrop
The five scents of Chapter 2 were smelled in order, from 1 to 5. Thái Lê’s page moves from scent no. 2, Longing in the rain, up to no. 3, A Date, on to no. 4, The Waltz, and then to no. 5, Where does the rain go? These five scents lived only in the exhibition room; they were never made to be sold.
On the curved wall of the room, Rei’s letter asked where the rain comes from and where it goes, then spoke of dragonfly wings, wandering here and there with the rain. Thái Lê’s page holds the same question, and a newly met dragonfly friend.

In the same weeks, on another page of the book, a visitor who introduced themselves as a spatial designer from Japan wrote:
Someday, please open a shop in Japan too.
The other pages of the book are kept in the record of this opening.
