Light and Shadow was no ordinary exhibition. It drew lovers of scent, and it made a strong impression on anyone in search of a fresh encounter with art: a place where light, shadow and the sense of smell came together in a space of their own. The olfactory exhibition “Light and Shadow” is a journey of perception, in which scents become a means of connecting with emotion and with the unseen depths of the soul. Here are a few moments with the fragrance lovers and guests who came to the exhibition. Within only three days of opening, “Light and Shadow” had won a great deal of affection from the visitors who came to see it in Hanoi.

Impressions from fragrance lovers

The exhibition was divided into several areas, each with a story of its own, in which smell became the only sense guiding visitors. “Light and Shadow” was not only for fragrance lovers; it reached out to anyone seeking something new in art, with smell as the means of guiding emotion. In video interviews recorded at “Light and Shadow”, visitors spoke of their delight at the creativity and finesse with which scent was used to tell stories.

Beyond spoken impressions, the exhibition also captured candid moments of its visitors on video. The thoughts and feelings they had after viewing and exploring the scent creations on display were all recorded, offering a deeper sense of the influence the art of scent can have.

Through what its visitors shared, “Light and Shadow” succeeded in creating a space for art and in offering something special: each person could find a part of themselves in the scents on show.

Hilda Frimpong: “Excellently presented exhibition. I loved the marriage of light, sound and scent. The story telling was great to get you to have a truly immersive experience rather than just smelling scents. 10/10 would recommend”

Ngọc Huyền: “The music is extremely relaxing, the images and colors are excellent, the scent is pleasant, and the story is great.”

“Whichever scent I smelt, I felt relaxed and at ease. Each bottle is a story of its own — really interesting. I was most hooked on the natural scents of flowers and greenery, sweet without being harsh. I wish I could buy every one of them and take them home. …”
